"Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly
A girl with kaleidoscope eyes.
Cellophane flowers of yellow and green
Towering over your head
Look for the girl with the sun in her eyes
And she's gone."
Cellophane Flowers is a modern day take on the Beatles 1967 song, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. However, instead of modeling this vintage swim hat for its intended purpose, I wanted to bring the lyrics to life and capture the essence of a 60-70's beauty advertisement.
Vision is shaped by interpretation of the colors, textures and design in which we live. Often we compare what we see to the familiar—our experiences. But this time, I challenge you to look deeper. Do you see the clarity in her eyes? With pollen dusting where there was once sun?
Cellophane Flowers is a whimsical transformation of a once girl who is now whoever, and whatever, she wants to be.
